Ariel Chab-Tarab studied sitar
during several years in India with Dr. Krishna Chakravarty,
Ph.D (disciple of Master Pandit Ravi Shankar), and also with
Ram Das Chakravarty, Ph.D, Master of the Senia Gharana.
He attended the Banaras Hindu University (Banaras, India),
and double majored in Hindi Langue and Musical Appreciation.
He has given numerous concerts in Argentina, Chile
and India. His style stresses the purity of sound and the strict
adherence to the traditional classical form, the Raga.
He collaborated with Rasikananda
Das in the soundtrack to the motion picture “Unicornio”,
the first Indian-Argentinian co-production of the Argentinian filmmaker
Pablo Cesar, with live footage shot on location in India.
In October 1995 he organized the international meeting “Diálogo
entre las Culturas” (Dialogue among Cultures), to celebrate
the United Nations' jubilee. The event was sponsored by UNESCO,
Argentina's National Arts Fund, the Embassy of India, and
the City of Buenos Aires' Culture Secretariat, among others.
He is also the author of the first known Indian music book to
be written in the Spanish language, in which he transmits very clearly
the vast musical heritage of India.
His collection of Indian musical instruments is Argentina's largest,
as well as the teaching and audiovisual material he owns. Due to
his knowledge, the Indian diplomatic see in Buenos Aires considers
him to be a cultural ambassador
Ariel Chab-Tarab is a full-time teacher, and dedicates his time
to music lessons, the coordination of workshops, et cetera.
