Indian Classical/Semiclassical Music Concerts
This activity is performed by Ariel
Chab-Tarab on sitar and
Rasikananda Das on tabla,
acoompanied by a student on Tambura. If required, a second Tambura
can be provided as well.
Technical specifications
a) Stage (or performing area if not available). It shall
be 2 x 2,50 mts x 0,50 mts (approx. 6 x 8 x 1,5 ft.) minimum, according
to the venue, and it shall be covered with a non-padded cloth,
tapestry or rug.
b) Sound reinforcement. Only required for venues hosting
more than 40 seats, it shall feature 3 (three) condenser-type microphones,
with small microphone stands (cranes if not available).
c) Room lighting. For small venues, lighting should be restricted
to the performing area and its adjacent surfaces. For medium to
large auditoriums, frontal and skylights of light colours (amber
ideally) will be needed. Side lighting should be in shades of blue
and red, and the general lights (front rows) should be kept at 20%.
d) Logistics. For small venues, a room or designated closed
area for instruments and changing will suffice. For medium to large
venues, two dressing rooms will be needed.
During the concerts, the musicians sit with their instruments on
the floor of the performing area. The instruments are, from left
to right facing the audience, tabla
and sitar. Behind them the
tambura(s) are placed, along with whichever accompaning instruments
might be, according to the event and requirement
